The Siamese Cats - A Wonderfully Elegant PetThe first thing most people think about when considering a Siamese Cat as a pet is the Ancient Egyptians. The Ancient Egyptians worshiped cats as gods, and the Egyptian breeds of cats all have relatively similar features. The Siamese cat we know today, has a very narrow and distinctively triangular far, with large ears and beautiful blue eyes. Siamese cats also have longer than average tails and are of a shorted haired variety. The traditional colors for a Siamese cat were a sandy color and brown, although now the breed colors have been advanced through selective breeding and almost any color of Siamese cat can be bred. Siamese cats are a lovely breed of cat to have as a pet, as they require little extra work unlike their long haired cousins. Things that should consider before you purchase a Siamese cat as your family pet would include their maturity rate. A Siamese cat will become mature and able to breed at the age of 5 months, which is considerably earlier than most other cats, with this taken in to consideration, most vets will not neuter a cat until it is six months old, so you will need to keep a careful eye on your cat to prevent and accidental breeding of kitten litters. The other thing to consider when choosing a Siamese cat as a pet, is their voice. Siamese cats are well known for their noise. This is not always a bad thing, as if your cat is in trouble you will be able to hear it, however, the problem can arise with your neighbours, if you live in a built up area, your neighbours will not thank you for letting your cat meow in the garden at 3am. However, most Siamese cats are not this bad, and most peoples neighbours are very understanding when it comes to pets. Siamese cats are also known for shedding their coats.
